Agreed Noof but our prairie ppl are pretty cool as well. Also transplanted prairie ppl to the coast!!
Some places ppl panic and empty the grocery stores when there is an inch of snow!!

Talking about the incredible people of Nfld!!

This tells it all.

The true stories of "Come From Away"....

Come From Away tells the incredible true story of 7,000 passengers, who were on their way to different parts of America when the tragedy of 9/11 struck. As the American air space closed, 38 planes were grounded in the Newfoundland community of Gander for 5 days.
I have seen the documentary "Come From Away" a few times on TV and I never get tired of it and I always cry.
If you have a chance to watch it, please do. It is amazing what the Newfies did for those 7000 people dropped into their town. Those wonderful people of Gander don't think they did anything out of the ordinary because that is what you should do in a crisis. So many personal stories woven through those 5 days.
Many of those who experienced Gander at it's best, come back each year to remember. One of the ladies said, "it's just a tray of sandwiches, I do that all the time." Just imagine dealing with the many dietary needs of all those people and the logistics of housing and supplies, toilet paper lol. Of course the luggage could not come off the planes so was only carry on allowed in the town. Instantly the socks and underwear in the town were gone lol. When the call went out for
supplies of any kind within half a day they had to tell people to stop bringing more. A couple had just come back from a holiday in France and said they ate better in Gander than France!

I could go on and on and now I want to look for the program again, to watch and cry one more time.

God Bless our Newfoundlanders and Canada!!
