This is a trailer of " You are here, come from away"
The story of 7000 passengers landing in Gander NFLD after the 9/11 attacks
I have seen the full documentary 5 times and I always cry
The worst of times but Gander showed those 7000 people such generosity, kindness and love
If you have a chance to watch it please do,

They sure did my friend.....
One of the ladies from Gander said " I only made a tray of sandwiches, something I do all the time"
Very humble.... there was a need and all stepped up and went above and beyond for their fellow man
Makes you proud and tearful lol

The Newfs aren't put together the way most people are. They can be almost selfless, especially when they feel the need. They give without question & expect nothing in return. They LAUGH at adveristy. The hardships that life sometimes brings(like the damn snow) brings them closer together,& gives them more to laugh about.Far & above, they are my favourite people on this planet.God bless the Newfies.

The town received a hefty sum of money afterwards.

Yes, they sure did runamok, and rightfully deserved. While those 7000 plane people were in Gander for 6 days they would not take a penny for anything.
The come from away people could only donate after, to scholarship funds for the kids, money for refurbishing the Legion washrooms and whatever they could do to give back. So, so grateful for everything NFLD people did for them in their time of need. A collection box was found after the last plane departed and inside were thousands of dollars, different denominations, currencies, whatever the plane people could give before they left.
It's so great that many of the plane people come back to commemorate that day every year and call Gander their second home. They felt like family!!

Thanks to a member here I just viewed the full documentary. All I can say is...AMAZING. What a great emotional story. I knew the Newfs took in the passengers but I didn't know just how much they did for them. What great people!
Thank you to orchidgirl for bringing this to my attention, I had never heard about this video before.
My hats off to Gander and all Newfoundlanders, you pulled off a miracle.

That is fabulous dd, so glad you got to see this amazing story
Five times and I never get tired of it and will watch it again when it comes on
Yes," all I did was make a tray of sandwiches, something i do all the time"
Now you see the true significance of that statement..such humility

Poor animals that sat in their crates for 48 hrs. I've flown dogs many times and there is usually no food or water in the crate while flying and with the engines shut down there is no environment control. Good to see the SPCA lady got in there and got all the animals out.
