Hi all,
Any vintage Viewsaters like me out there?
I've been running one for years on IKS. My question is regarding the updated channel files in the file section.
I am used to loading PGM files on my receiver and the updated files are not PGM files.
Would like to update the channels as I have lots that are saying no longer available but don't want to make this receiver a doorstop.
Anyone out there using them?
Thanks

you dont say whether you are discussing north or south
it would help too if you posted what sw is currently on it
If south the updated tp info is posted in general receiver discussion
Compare it to what you have
there are still some viewsatters kicking around ,just be patient

I'm on both north and south using PFTAHDSW_110802H.pgm file.
North guide seems fine. South guide has channels showing up that say no longer available on guide.
Can live with it.....

Do a factory reset

This is what we used to do:

Power off by back switch
Disconnect antenna
Install Usb with files
Power on
Cleaner file first
Factory default
Factory file
Factory default
100510 or latest file... which mine is 110802H now.
Power off
Connect antenna
Power on
Rescan

When you say factory reset, you have to add a bin file after do you not?

Thanks for the reply!

As a general rule and depending on stb factory reset will default settings back to default per file loaded. Dish settings, time and erase ch. lists etc. File should remain the same. If some edits were made to sat. names and tp's they may remain after factory reset. Again this depends on stb. Not familiar with vs but others like sv and it's a safe bet they are similar in ways.

I tried the newer file on a spare receiver I just picked up. Didn't like it as it does not have the Legacy switch option in the Dish installation section. Probably works fine with a DiSEqC switch but I'm not using one now. Reverted back to the old file. PFTAHDSW-110802H.

Brunifan,

Don't use the channel list from file section could be old, that would explain the "no longer available". Set your switch and scan each satellite you have connected. Like Dishuser says standard = legacy LNB. For b3v HD and all Di$h channel you need the turbo 8PSK working in the box.

The VS9K after a reset sometimes the turbo 8PSK doesn't come on. To nug it on go to options and make sure EXT tuner is not greyed-out, if its white turn it from on to off and exit, check 82 that you get HD TP's. Once done that your good to go. It that did not work in options again try changing the state of B3V channel mapping so if it on turn it off and exit, if it off tun it on and exit. Once you have reception on turbo channel scan all the sats in your case guessing 82, 91 110, 119.

Then after that delete all the channel you know will never work like PPV. In the case of b3v you can leave 832 in the list for UFC fights.
