For a regular, non FTA receiver, can I use an SW21 switch to get the 82° bird or do I need to have the SW44 powered switch? I will be using 2 standard dual LNB's and a 6131 receiver...

An SW21 will not work with that BEV receiver you need a powered switch

Try unpluging the 6131 for a few minutes and let it sit, then do a check switch. Use ports 1A for 91W & 1B for 82W.....or...... Sat1 for 91W & Sat2 for 82W. Some folks got it to work this way but as Burnsy said, it may not work for you.

Dont tell my 6131 that.. its working with a 5 year old SW21. No issues I know of. All my High Deff comes in fine.

and I an also using the good ol duel standard LNBs

so I would have to say, in my experiance only, that the SW21 is just fine... but maybe I have the exception to the rule and not the standard..

There are no issues with using a SW21 with a Bell receiver. As a matter of fact Bell supplies them (DN brand) on installs where the customer originally has only one of two receivers. They only install SW-44s for customers with more than two receivers.

Oppssss I stand corrected when I had my BEV Sub installed the installer could not get the SW21 to work according to him it was due to lack of power from the STB he had to install a powered switch in order to get both of my receivers up

Your not the only one Burnsy, talked to a few other guys that had the same issue. Don't know why some receivers work fine and others have issues.......strange :noidea:

The guy that did my BEV sub install also does a ton of FTA installs as well and he is a member over at talk thats why when he told me there were issues with sw21's and BEV revceives I assumed he knew his stuff you should have seen his eyes when I showed him all my FTA gear LOL

Must be spotty, as my 6131 works just fine with a SW21. It isn't even a DN Brand(Videopath) one either !
