Hey guys I’ve owned the Buzz XRS 4500 for a couple of months now, I upgraded from a Z8. I’ve noticed a few things with the buzz XRS 4500, but I wanted to see if they are common issues before I return my box for a brand new model.

First, I’ll fill in the details of what I’m running. I’m from Vancouver BC so I use TELUS internet on a 75 mbps connection. I have a nighthawk X 10 router, but I use the XRS 4500 via Ethernet connected to my router. I use two different subs, not sure if I can mention them on here.

Second, I can usually use both subs with zero issues, using VOD services. I say usually because maybe 1/50 times it has frozen and I had to restart the box, not a real big issue there and I verified that my sub was running updates. My major problem comes from using LIVE TV. I can watch certain channels buffer and freezing free for a bit of time, usually about 30 mins to an hour and half, but then inevitably it will buffer or freeze. This happens on both subs, regardless of channel. Some channels stream longer and better with no issues, but others freeze or buffer more often. At this point I contacted BUZZ and they sent me a personalized update for the issue. Now when it freezes it won’t get stuck, it freezes for a sec but then continues on with the show. It’s just annoying though because it will keep happening until I restart the box. I’ve tried default player, secondary player, using a VPN etc etc. You name it, I’ve tried it.

Thirdly and finally my questions. Why does this only happen on live tv? I can watch VOD for hours and hours and never have an issue. Do you think it’s possible I have a faulty box somehow? Would it be any different if I received a new model? Also, most importantly, does anyone else have similar issues here? It’d be nice to know that I’m not alone, or that I am alone and I could possibly have a faulty device! Thank you for your time sorry for the long message.

You can post any server names you want Sometimes its a device/server conflict which need to be looked at
I dont have your issue You should be using secondary player for live tv
It could be your server ,even your isp
The internet routes are all facing extremely heavy traffic and most servers are having minor issues
Vod is usually more stable than live tv
anyway hang in for a bit before you consider a return
You will have more input as there are issues being fixed

I read some where last week there may be an update this week for the xrs4500, hopefully it will address things. My xrs4500 is doing the same at times but all in all not bad considering the heavy internet traffic at the present time my WIFI speed usually runs on an average of 175-225 mbps on Rogers.
