user pass or mac address?

I currently have a Buzz xpl3000 which I subscribe to two services,I have the two set up as mac address,I am getting a new Buzz xrs-4500 next week and I dont believe you can change the mac address on the new box.What is the difference between setting up with mac address or user pass? I have talked with one of my providers and he said to send new mac address and he said he would switch it over but cant change to user pass.Is there an advantage between user pass and mac address? Thanks.

I can't say there's any huge differences, except most providers allow more than 1 connection with user/pass access, & only 1 with mac access.Check with your provider.

depending on the server you can put your server on the 4500
you would be able to change mac on 3000 to match 4500 and use both(just not at same time

advantage with user/pass is you could use both buzz boxes
or if you use mac from 4500 for account you can use same mac on 3000

the advantage of user/ pass is that you can use the server on other diffrents plateformes : phone, lapttop as well as buzz but not at the same time.

You can use mac access on devices that allow you to make the mac addresses common:my HTPC's,laptops, & 2 buzz boxes share a common mac.You can only watch one device at a time though.
