Exp brake warning

I was driving my Expedition on the highway and suddenly got the ABS and brake warning lights on, also the hill descent control fault and service advancetrac warning.

The brakes still seem to be normal.

Coincidentally, the odd thing was that I was driving in auto 4WD and switched to 2WD immediately before all the warning lights came on.

My OBD2 Scanmaster didn't show any codes.

Hope it's safe to drive until I can get to the dealer for service - hope it's not expensive.

Might want to check Fluid Level, could be on the low side, which is giving you the warning ?

First thing I checked was the fluid :thumbsup: it's full.

How old is the Expedition, and when did you last check the brake pads??

Our Jeep did something similar. It was the censor on the back of wheel bearing. Retainer was rotting off

It's a 2017. I was wondering if it might have something to do with a sensor since it happened just after I turned the switch from 4wd auto to 2wd.

Most likely a wheel speed sensor.The problem (or not) with that system is when an abs fault is detected by the ecu, it also disables all its sub systems, such as the traction control, & stability control,ect.Have someone with a GOOD scan tool pull the codes for you.

Check your wheel bearings if they are worn or loose it will cause abs light to come on.

I guess I'll have to wait til tomorrow and setup an appointment with Ford. Hope they can get me in soon, I am nervous driving with a brake warning light on even though the brakes are working normal.

Took it in to Ford today, they pulled an ABS code and want to change the left hub assembly. He said the wheel bearing is going and there is a couple of sensors on it. They have to order in the part so I'll be taking it back in a couple days.

You are probably right. At least it should be done right with the correct parts. In my younger days I would have done it myself.

I charge 100 USD for labor on that job, Hub Assembly is less than 150 USD, reset computer codes 50 USD for a total 300 USD, so at the dealer any thing over 400 usd is a ripoff, JMHO.

I'm in Canada... $400 USD is about $580 CAD. The price they quoted me is $650 CAD. So it is higher than you say but not too bad (almost everything costs more in Canada). I expect the dealer to...

my buddy only charges $45/hr plus 40% off on new parts from uap/napa <br />
he even has a hoist <br />
which was handy cause to remove a cherokee motor it has to come out from bottom...lol
