Most of them are kids. I wonder what their life expectancy was. If you look closely you'll see some with faces still covered in coal dust, so no protective equipment was being used.

If you've ever been in a coal mine you would understand why they use kids. Most coal seams are barely 4' ft. high.............had three uncle's with Black lung.

If the black lung didn't get you it would be cave-ins or explosions.
