First of all, there are no knock-knock jokes in Japanese.
Second, this is actually otherwise a true story. It was featured on a Japanese TV show. The husband was jealous that his wife was giving all of her attention to the children, so he gave her the silent treatment. It went on so long that he developed a severe block to being able to speak to her. (Interestingly, they still had another child during this time.) In the show, they had him practice speaking to a photo of her, then a video of her. The scene on the right is him finally speaking to her after 20 or so years.
