Looks to be another repackage from buzz. Looks identical hardware as boomrang mate which had the s905w soc
The xpl3000 had a s905x which for most part similar. This hardware is getting pretty outdated
The improvement on the “new” e1 here seems they ditched those other 2 models and only include newer software and updates on this model
If someone was able to dump this new buzztv4 app could load onto those older models and it would be same.
Think the s905w 4K is capped at 30fps but who’s really using 4K iptv

Its put out to replace the boomerang
Hardware works fine being a mid-line unit

no you can't

So far the box has been nice and solid. No major issues (other that I tried to installed so many other apps, that I actually ran out of space). Oops.. Needed to clean up :)
But being able to change MAC would have been amazing and put it over the top.

I know there is a reason behind the choice, but considering people can clone MAC using stbemu, I don't see why the restriction is needed. But hey, I don't create the rules :noidea:

2 of my buddies wanted to get another cheap box, and I tried getting them to get the E1. One of them jumped on it and ordered one, but the other went with the old xpl3000 again, just for being able to clone his MAC address on multiple boxes.

At least I got my other buddy to get a xrs4500. He had an old generic android box with stbemu previosuly and he always complained that it was not like he had with his old cable box. When he came over the holidays to drop off some gifts, he saw the xrs4500, the interface and how smooth it was, he went home and ordered one asap (his xmas gift to himself).

Oh.. Good to know. Had no idea. He knew the 3000 you still could, and on the Mate 1 he has I think he could, so he didn't want to take any chances. Between him and his kids (that recently moved out), they have 6 or 7 buzz boxes (XPL3000 and Mate 1). So I guess he stuck with what he is familiar and comfortable with.

I have another colleague who had picked up the 3900 when it first came out. So the 3xxx series are all on buzz 2 I guess ? buzz 4 was only introduced on the 4xxx series ?

I assume the 3000 will remain where it is, till it fades out ? No more changes or updates I guess ? It's a nice box however. No issues with it. I use that one in the basement.

BTW: I also noticed on buzztv canada's FB page, they mention that they will soon be releasing a BUZZ Essentials E2 ?

Agreed, you can do it with the emulator so nothing to gain/lose. But the essential e1 is definitely a nice unit.

It's an antique, no one in my home can touch it but me. I love this one.
