Its hard to believe that Canada is up there with all the taxes,income,sales tax,carbon gas tax,service tax and lets not forget the Costly Winters.Its also unbelievable that Australia is no.1.I need to move to Australia and learn to become a shearer.

It's based on gross income. Would be lower after taxes etc.

Ok,would explain a lot of things.I know my Sister lives in Florida and is better off then us in Canada while earning about the same income.One thing she doesn't seem to do is save money for her Kids education.We all know that in the U.S it is costly.Its like in the U.S you administer your money,and here in Canada the gov't does it for you.

The US has more millionaires than any other country in the world, unfortunately they also have many more people at the poverty line than other developed countries which causes the income median to be so low. The US is a great place to be if you have money but the government doesn't do much to take care of its citizens (no universal healthcare, no federally mandated vacation/sick/parental leave, etc).
