To answer some of your questions, the 4900 boast an AMlogic S922X chipset, meaning more smoother, faster, richer content, more connectivity options
With bigger processor, Hexa Core configuration with four Cortex-A73 cores and two other Cortex-A53 low consumption, includes powerful Mali-G52 MP6 GPU. It has native connections for HDMI 2.1 that reaches up to 4K@75fps
The housing offers internal 2.5inch Sata and SSD Option and Buzztv + Kuul Media will look into offering bundle deals with 2.5 inch memory included.
The USB-C port is not something we see often on android boxes but as some may know type C is faster, in fact can have a transfer rate of a USB.3.1.
The 4900 will include the new BT-200 remote control that almost adopts the same housing design as BT-100 on 4500 but with improvements like new TV Volume control, new ‘bleed proof’ colour keys, new high gloss bevelled edge directional keypad with improved back lighting on entire functions keys.
XRS 4900 will have the new Buzztv5 application that’s has completely new rewritten menus, user interface options including 5 dark modes options, new single EPG, new Channel List, New EPG Guide, New Icons, New configuration menus, new android 9 settings, and new PVR that has watch one record another and further developments.
A statement on here about why don’t buzztv improve previous models, well actually the 4000 series and above will adopt the new Buzztv5.
Yes Buzztv did launch 8 new products in 14 months with further editions due in first quarter of 2021, but we see this as a positive as the consumer is spoilt for choice, we have not comprised on quality but what we know is we are all different in what we like in taste, price and features. Having more products will cater this consumer behaviour and like we said, we are not leaving no one behind, 4000 above will get Buzztv5

I hope AMlogic doesn't drop the ball on the S922 series like they did on their S912. It was a promising CPU, but their SDK was plagued with all sorts of issues. I bought an S912 box when they first came out, and it was super powerful as long as you can get over the glitches that they never properly fixed (at least not in the first year of production - it collected dust after that). They had all sorts of workarounds (which were more community patches), but there were all sorts of display issues (Actually had 2 different make boxes - and both had similar issues).

Can't wait to see the new buzztv 5.

Setting up for testing as I speak
So far i am very happy with all aspects of this device . To open the box and find Energizer batteries and not the cheapo ones told me i am in for a real treat .
Gui is clean and fresh looking
fast loading and simplified.

Time to break in this Beast and see what she has got .

Bluetooth remote is a nice piece to work with , not to clunky or cheap feeling .

Under record option you have choice of 116gb of internal or choose your drive of choice
under format option you do have option to save all files and folders to the ssd , I chose not to go that route . It is quite nice to have record to internal of 116gb though

Yes that is huge, provided it functions properly. Issue I always have with recording with anything is stability of the provider, I find most IPTV programs don't have a just a plain record what's on the screen ability meaning if the stream stutters or stops or does a 3-5 second loop the recording stops because the program detects an anomaly and to save space cancels the recording. I am hoping the 4900 on UI5 can record still regardless of what happens or makes an internal 3-5 tries to continue the recording process.

I got my 4900 earlier in the week, and I have to say it is IMPRESSIVE.
The speed of this thing, is just phenomenal. I installed an old 120GB SSD I had lying around, changed the PVR destination, tried some recordings, and it is just super smooth. And when playing back any of the recording and then trying to REW/FFD through it, it is just seamless and not once did I get a spinner because it needed to catchup or seek. And installing a bunch of other apps on it (like Plex, cyberfl1x, b33tv, etc..) and you click OK to install, and before yo know it, it is done. Haven't found any compatibility issues yet either with anything I tried installing.

I love my 4500, but the 4900 will become my new favorite, pretty quickly I foresee.

The remote is very nice, but it takes a little getting used to I find. I don't know if they are all like that, but I found that the D-Pad seems to have like a double pressure type click. Soft touch for usual use, and then a harder touch for a second click which switches from continuous to single input mode (that is handy when in mouse cursor mode and you want to move just a little bit at a time, instead of constantly overshooting in each direction to try to get over a button). The backlighting seems to be a little better than the 4500 remote (but that was just a quick observation - I have not put them side by side yet to check).

The 3 USB-A ports and 1 USB-C ports are very nice. When testing I always connect a keyboard/mouse to allow quick text input, so with 2USB ports taken, it is nice to have a 3rd one for a USB stick.

I haven't tested the WiFi yet, since I am typically wired. But the Dual Band should be pretty nice. Hope it plays well with my Cisco Access points.

I know many people were initially disappointed when they heard it would be Android 9 and nothing more recent. But honestly, I think for a purpose specific device like this, as long as the OS and dev libraries support the CPU, I think you are better off with something older and more stable (and Android 9 is still supported anyhow). There is NO need for a newer OS, if anything you will probably be plagued with all sorts of compatibility issues with something newer.

make sure you use the power cord it came with, I used the 4500 cord and the box lite just stayed red and wouldn't turn on
so I used the cords it came with and it fired rite up!

I have a Shield Pro and put it in the den last night. My Shield runs Tivimate also. I got y Buzz 4900 yesterday and after setting it up without a single problem I decided this will stay in our living room. My wife LOVES it....thank god lol.
I put Tivimate on it as well as Kodi with the Doomsday Aspire build and IpVanish and I am going to say the Buzz is faster then my shield. You can use Tivimate or the BuzzTv App which works very well. With the click of a button you can change servers seemlessly or watch a PVR recoding or watch VOD etc etc. I also recorded a show last night to see how that worked and it was also flawless. I even hooked up a wireless Keyboard/mouse to the Buzz4900 and that also worked with out a single problem. So far I can not speak high enough about the Buzz4900. I haven't had it freeze or crash with all the crap I installed on it yesterday lol. The remote is a very good size as well and the backlit buttons are pretty cool. I really believe that Buzz has made a box that can contend with the Nvidia Shield only I find the Buzz4900 smoother to operate. One other thing....I find the picture extremely clear as well as the sound.

This option would have taken it over the top (even though it is pretty much there) :thumbsup:

But like dishuser said, buzztv2 was the last one to have that option. I keep hoping it will be enabled again but I don't think it will ever happen (I could always be wrong) :)

For now, when I need to test with other MAC, I just load up STBEmu (no comparison in terms of interface - but it serves the purpose).

So does anyone have any idea if the lit up buzz logo on the front of the box always stays on? Mine does regardless if it is powered on or not.

lol mine complained about the brightness of the light also but she loves how clear the picture is. I recorded a show the other night for her to watch yesterday and she said she couldn't believe how nice the fast forward and rewind worked. I have an SSHD coming in next week and will be putting that in :)

I had the same problem you have it in suspend mode.

Can anyone confirm if the 4900 runs 64-bit Android 9 or is it still 32-bit, or are amlogic sources for arm64-v8a still not stable? Previous buzz boxes have run the 32 bit version of Android 9.

I bought one and love it. I haven't had a single problem or freeze. The picture clarity is excellent and I have nothing bad to say about my 4900. I run IPTV, Kodi with a good build, Amazon Prime and Netflix and zero issues.
