Agreed...no Taipans,browns, or cobras in my neck of the woods..lol

I spent a lot of my younger years hiking and camping in the northern forests, can't imagine doing the same in Australia with all the poisonous snakes, spiders and crocs. Much safer with only the black bears and moose to worry about.

Just did some googling:

Interestingly, Australia only has 66 venomous species, whereas Mexico has 80 and Brazil has 79. Yet Australia has the ones with the most deadly venom. The box jellyfish, marbled cone snail, blue-ringed octopus and stonefish are in the top ten most venomous animals of the world, and all live in Australia.

The top of the list should be The One Eyed Trouser Snake.It has killed more humans and animals then any other snake.

Seems like about 50% of the lifeforms you encounter in Australia can kill ya.
