My dad ran early computers for Dept, of Agriculture. I remember going with him to work on the weekends occasionally , playing with punch cards in late fifties ....

Ahh yes, remember Compiling in Fortran and punching cards with gigantic reels of magnetic tape for retrieval...............

Today our phone or probably even a calculator can do millions if not billions more computations in seconds. Wow... but that was the backbone that started it all, when the transistor came along the advances never stopped, not even today...
