View Full Version : dreamlink T5 91/82 EPG.. 2 Questions
I do know that when your in the Main EPG if you hit the yellow for dish epg or blue for bev it will go to a preset channel to load the list. Now yellow takes you to channel 239 and takes about 20 minutes to load and blue 1522 ,But what I found if for bev you go to 1199 it will load 3 or 4 days of epg in about 45 second . I was wondering if there is a channel other then 239 that's faster for dish ?
I do this lots because my T5 just for no reason what so ever decides to reboot on its own, some times 3 or 4 times a day then sometimes not for a week . I have checked DL100 (removed clean pins ) and checked all connections all looked great and secure ,One thing I did was to put on two cooling fans in and out flow and the STB rebooted every 2 or 3 minutes..??? Also installed a brand new power supply for a Dreamlink T5. So I'm thinking the vibration of the small fans must be causing a bad solder joint to make it reboot? I have checked the solder joints and all look fine. Any thoughts on this problem ???

The HD module maybe on it's way "OUT" Try taking the module out and watch SD on 91 see if it Re-boots or acts up
Also what are the specs on the new power supply you added, you want/need 12v 3.5-5amp for the T5 to run right etc.

Channel 230 loads up to 7 day EPG
I had bought a dreamlink power supply and just checked it and I see its a 12v 2a output , So I ordered a 12v 3.5 should get it Wednesday let you know Thanks .. Oh yea is there a other channel works good for dish EPG other then 239 ?? thanks for fast reply
Thanks for 230
Update : Got new power supply a 4.5 amp 5.5 X 2.1 plug ,installed it now 24 hours later No random reboot so far.. Thanks all

One thing you might want to check is the solder joints on the board for the power supply. I had that problem & it was the joints. You have to remove the wires (2 clips) to get at the connection.
Ok update , Checked all joints seem good . I changed out the hdmi cable and tried 3 different ones. While powered up I twisted unit and nothing it stayed on. Put cooling fans on and ,seemed to reboot a lot faster. Turned off spif and went to 780P and still random reboot. Even unplugged HDMI overnight to see if that was the issue and in the morning it had rebooted. This is what I have been dealing with.. Thanks

how are you powering the cooling fans, if from T5 USB PORT, "DON'T" Depending on how much equipment the T5
has to power up, it is over taxed already.
No fans are on a separate power. And I am thinking maybe Disqc might be problem because it does this on all 4 sats. But no way Im changing it now with -30c weather here ..

If you have it setup on 4-Sats. and depending on how long your cable runs without a Self-powered switch
Then the T5 is "OVER TAXED" Already, it doesn't have enough power by itself to operate all the equipment
that needs power to it.

agreed....leave the sat signal cable off & let it sit a day or 2 & check for rebooting that way. Also might try removing the 8psk as Auggie suggested.
So I am using a 4 x 1 DiSEqc Wideband Switch .What switch should I be using that has its own power supply ? I do have a dpp44 somewhere lol. But I would like something smaller

What lnb's?Legacy I presume?

A SW-44
One like this if Legacy LNB's : hxxps://www.ebay.ca/itm/183815161227?hash=item2acc3cc58b:g:8rUAAOSw4AJcc3H 6
Have a look here: hxxps://www.canadasatellite.ca/Bell-Legacy-Switches-s/3272.htm
yes 1 dish with a dual bev legacy and 2 separate Dishes with single circular lnbs .. no name visible single lnb. They are real close and I run 4 cables to a outside 4 x 1 DiSEqc then single cable to the unit inside the house. No more then 3m of cable.

The T5 alone doesn't have the required power to run all that by itself, that's why I/Noof suggested the powered SW-44 WITH
Inserter, you could try hooking up a Bell/dish receiver as well to the equation, so as to help power things possibly ?
Most likely what you are running into because for Lack of power is switching issues between the Sats.
It's all Power related

I think you may have sourced your problem...I would still try a no-sat state for test purposes.

I will give this a try

the sw44 is for 2 satellites
he would need 2 of them and some way to combine the 2 switches
I suppose a 22kz would work to switch between the 2 sw44

I should have read this before I replied :)
you can only use an sw44 on the BEV dish
if the other lnbs are actually singles, a sw44 requires 2 dual lnbs
did your system ever work properly with the diseqc switch ... if so then I would disconnect the ports one at a time and see if your problem is an lnb
it's not uncommon for an lnb to draw too much power when it's failing
Just to let you all know ,It seems the issue was with my DL and not setup, I just picked up a other DL and it works perfect even now with cooling fan , No reboots at all. Like I said earlier in first post when the cooling fan was on top of it, it would reboot every minute it was on so I figure a bad connection some where in the board that the tiny vibrations messed it up.But a newer DL and problems are gone...Thanks all that had a input, great ideas to look at for sure .
