View Full Version : Which one to get XRS 4900 0r XRS 4500?

My Formuler Z7+ just died so I need a new box and can't decide on the 4900 or 4500?
I don't need the extra storage as I NEVER record anything.
I just use the box for 1 or 2 subs.
I think both use Buzz TV 5?
I am more concerned about Picture quality. I think both would be the same?
Bottom line is should I spend an extra $75 for the XRS 4900 which as far as I can tell is only getting me the extra storage?

I own a 4500 & I think it's exceptional.I've read the 4900 is even better across the board.If so, it must be an amazing stb.Based on your intended use, I would say the 4500 will more than satisfy.Let's be perfectly honest here:we are NEVER done buying toys, so save the 75...lol

The 4900 currently has buzz 5
The 4500 will get buzz 5 but no eta yet
Both have good quality pic
Slighter faster on the 4900 but if you are not into recording the xrs 4500 is a good choice

I m thinking on ordering the 4900 to see how it holds on,been doing some homework on that little box and think it would be a good adition for my collection…we’ll see

Just hooked up a XRS 4900 MAX with 1TB drive to a Sony Ultra 4K 70" tv.
The box is incredible, but the picture is unbelievable on this tv.

That's what I want is a incredible picture as well. I see no difference in the specs of the XRS 4500 that would change picture quality as compared to the XRS 4900?
