More RAM for the Essentials line of Buzz units. This is a very good upgrade. It wouldn't surprise me if one day the Buzz brand create a unit for the Eskimos, they really do cater for all.

Had a buddy over during the week. He still uses some old generic android boxes with STBEmu on them. When he saw my E2 which I had working in the living room, he loved it. Amazed at the EPG, and the snappiness of the budget unit.
Gave him the info, and he immediately ordered the E2 SE instead, he figured it can only be better and quicker than my E2 with the extra memory :) And for an extra $20, why not.
They definitely cater to all budgets, and they don't disappoint. This is one brand I don't feel bad or awkward recommending to family and friends.
true. and they are top notch boxes with very low price can not ask better than that :)

Are these boxes still worth getting? I see them around town now for $95 but I can also get the XRS 4000 for $139 and the XRS 4500 for $159.

of course it will hold you for some time but mostly depends on your usage/functionality you are looking for. like pvr+,..etc :)
but if you can spend more than sure you can pick up some newer than E2 SE.

For $95, they are nice.
But if you are willing to go up a bit, I would prefer to get a 5 series box over the older ones. I still use an xrs4900 as my main box, but you can get something like an E5 for $149.. Use the "satfix2021" coupon code to get 10% discount at buzztv global site, and you have free shipping and you are pretty much at the same price range as the xrs4000. You'd get AndroidTV 11 box (vs Android 9), with S905X4 vs X2. Yes you have 2GB vs 4GB of memory, but for IPTV, you probably won't notice it (and I find AndroidTV 11 does a little better in memory management anyhow).
The choice is yours. It is not a bad option if you want to save a few $$, but spend a little more and I think you'll like the series 5 a little more.

I know this is an old thread but is this box still worth getting today? A few friends are looking for service and need a box. I found these on Amazon for approx. $145 CDN funds. They dont have a big budget for the newer Buzz boxes.
Is this a decent buy or is there something better around the same price?
Thanks

The Classic is the GO TO BOX I always recommend and most of my friends/colleagues have purchased it and love it. But it is a little more, but worth the difference. Same CPU as the X5 and U5, BT Remote, more onboard storage, memory, etc....
BUT If budget is SUPER tight, the B5 is a nice option (My mom uses a B5).
I would recommend going with a B5 or even better yet an E5 on a budget. They go on sale during various holidays, and other occasions. Buy direct from buzztv global web site. Or if they don't want to wait for a sale, they can use discount code "satfix2021" to get 10% discount. Once you go to the checkout screen and select "Canada" for shipping address all converts back to $CDN.
The E5 right now, is CDN$150 on their web site. USE the discount code, and you get $15 off. In Quebec they only collect GST (not sure about all other provinces), but with free shipping, I think the E5 is better right now at about $141 shipped all-in (maybe a little more in other provinces/states). Since the B5 is cheaper, after applying the discount coupon it is below the "free" shipping threshold, so you do pay for shipping for the B5 (but it is still cheaper - and I find it faster than the older E2).
Compared to the B5, The E5 has a faster CPU, double the onboard storage, USB3 (instead of just 2.0 which is great if you will be playing off or downloading to external storage), The Wifi is a little better, and the remote is the IR200 vs the IR100 so has 2 additional programmable buttons.
But as others have mentioned, the Classic is the best bang for the buck right now..
The E2 is nice, but I find ever since it was updated to BuzzTV 5, it is a little bit on the slower side. I have the E2 in my kitchen, and it works, but today I'd probably get the E5 if I had a choice.
Why buy an older Android 9 box, when you can get an AndroidTV 11 box, which is faster and newer for possibly cheaper or at most $5 more (depending on provincial taxes).

Ill prolly get them to go with the classic and I'd rather them be a bit unhappy about spending a bit more now then be unhappy later with a slower box.
Also, at the buzzglobal site, when I try to order the classic, just to see what the total for them will be, it keeps going back to US funds. Is this normal as I know the site was updated recently......

Won't regret the Classic. Definitely best bang for the buck right now.
When you go to the checkout screen and change the Delivery Country from US to Canada, it will/should auto switch back to Canadian.
The Classic, right now, from the buzztv global site, with shipping to Quebec, after discount, and after GST, it comes to just under CDN$180 ($179.xx).

I change it to Canada and then it shows the Canadian total until I go to checkout and it reverts back to US funds for some reason.
Nevermind.....lol. Now I see what you were saying.....
