I'd like to know how they stacked them so high, and how they kept it from tipping over.

I am guessing a lot here but assuming those are pine logs the total weight is probably about 40 - 50 tons. On a good ice road a team of two horses would be able to pull it. If the terrain was rougher or hilly they would add another two horses.
