Does anyone know if a 4DTV receiver that had a dead battery on the receiver board be revived back to use? I replaced the 3.6v batt. The set will turn on but has no control with buttons. thanks

Supposedly a 4DTV receiver that has had a dead battery replaced can still be used for free analog BUD channels and for using the BUD dish mover, holding sats in memory and polarity adjustments.
Supposedly what you will lose after a dead battery is all the digital including FTA and the ability for a 4DTV subscription, when the battery dies or a weak battery is removed and replaced without first being jumpered with the new battery it will completely erase the boards ID # that is necessary for a subscription and from what i've read it also kills FTA Digital.
If the battery dieing renders all functions useless like the dish mover, that will go against what i've heard before so I suspect you have some other issue.

Once the battery dies the 4DTV units they are only good for analog viewing, and moving the dish.
The battery is needed to store the units digital id number, without this no digital.
Motherboards can be replaced, with new battery and id number.
If one can even be found for the older 920, at $100+ not worth the cost.

Yeah my 922 just started acting up about a week ago, looked at sending it in for repairs at some sites and to fix my videocypher module it will probably cost $200 - 300 depending on what is wrong.
1. Mine now won't hold subscription channels so i've had to rehit it 3 times in just the last week to get back my channels and also the video and audio has been squirrely acting with pixeling and audio going out and back on occasionally.
Still has the numbers so the batteries are probably ok but the fact the module won't hold the subscription for more than a couple days at a time makes me wonder if the battery in the module is close to gone.
So I checked out Ebay and I bought one from someone that just made the move to Dishnet and it looks to be in great shape (922 receiver, module, remote control and manual) all for $150 including shipping.

Mine (920) died, & they wanted $173 to replace the Mboard & minimum labor to flash it was $80...Plus another $60 to ship both ways...I opted to look on ePay too

Got my new (used) 4DTV receiver this afternoon delivered by UPS, looks to be in great shape and I may swap them out tomorrow and then call in and get my new receiver and videocypher module hit on my subscription.
