Hi since my Jynxbox went down now, I am going to use my back up Dreamlink T5, however, I was unable to connect to internet. I finally noticed one of the teeth? on the LAN port is shifted left, looks like a piece of plastic that keeps them spaced has broke off. How hard is it to replace, and is there soldering involved? I am not skilled at soldering. is there any alternatives, like adding a USB LAN port and place the USB end into the back of the units USB port? Not having much luck recently between these two boxes.

I just replaced an hdmi connector on a T5.Same idea.Hot air gun with desoldering braid works the best for small pin work like that.I wouldn't consider it to be a beginners job bro.

Thanks, but I would need more detail on how, complete newbie with something like this.

First thingis to find an exact replacement. It has to be a dimensional match to fit the board properly.Measure & look carefully at digikey or someplace similar.Once you have it in hand, you're ready to start.

I am not sure I have the patience for this, any alternatives?

I used to use the braid until I bought a sucker ;)

I have both, but I prefer the braid:It takes the solder off more cleanly I find. The sucker works better on larger pins though.

will a USB to ethernet adapter work with this box?

The software on the dreamlink would have to be altered to look for & process a usb lan device. It will not.

It would be easier to use a fine tipped needle nose pliers and bent the contact back in place, one the LAN cable is inserted it should hold it's self in place by the contact isolation's on the LAN cable connector.
Just don't remove the cable.

Thanks Noof, kind of thought it may not.

Thanks Terryl, the plastic spacers between the metal contacts, the one broke, so the metal contact swings in one direction, I thought about doing something like that, maybe if I pull it higher it will work, I am afraid to bend it side to side, as I am sure it will break.

I had the same issue with a T5 hdmi port:the separator broke & a contact went astray shorting 2 contacts together. The separators also keep the contacts where they're supposed to be.

Turns out, not the ethernet port, It works it is my tp ac1740 wifi extender. For whatever reason I had the sat box hardwired to the wifi extender and at one time worked, not anymore. I do believe our house lost power, maybe the cause, but now I cannot have it con ect to the extender.

Dishuser, no it is not. I got it all working again. I got lucky the teeth on the Ethernet port are making a connection.
