Hi there went to do a factory reset on laptop and all seemed good. Finished but then got a error message did manage to install few programs. So I then did factory reset again and now computer keeps shutting down and doesn't finish installing windows 10. Stops at 64 % did manage to get it finished but now just turns on says Acer then the spinning then black screen and shuts down. I have opened laptop up removed hard drive and plugged back in. Also noticed that the batter is not charging at all. I installed a new Bios battery but still the same thing. Anyone have any ideas on how to fix problem The laptop is my friends and hasn't been used for about 1 yr prior to this.

Looks like the original OS is Win10. You might try booting into safe mode and try finding a restore point.



Hold down the Shift button as you click "Restart." ...
Choose "Troubleshoot" on the Choose an option screen. ...
Choose "Startup Settings" and then click Restart to get to the final selection menu for Safe Mode. ...
Enable Safe Mode with or without internet access.

Boot from Original Win-10 Disk, once loaded should be options to repair system & Fix Boot Problems etc. from the Disk itself
Also did you make or have Back-Ups of the OS that was on it to begin with ? Also does the laptop support Win-10 for specs
which is possible why the problem (wrong Driver or no driver loaded )

One question, why did you need to do a factory reset????

Now for the problems.

It looks like the boot sector on the hard disk has problems, (too many resets??) try this, go to the site below on another PC and create the boot CD (DVD, USB) repair disk, follow the instructions for the repair of the laptops boot sector on the hard drive,(in their How to's ) that may fix your problems, if not then you may need a new hard drive.

The machine already boots if he can load 64% of Win 10 on it. I would look for a repair first. I know there is Command Prompt routine that will scan and fix Windows Cabinet and install files. I'll see if i can find it.
