X5 First Impressions

Hello my fellow fixers,

Today I’m going to leave my first impressions here before I really get down to the real review of buzz’s latest new box. I will say that Out of the many buzz boxs that I have played with this one is definitely the most premium feeling. The aluminum casting and antennas are solid. The remote well the remote is the best buzz has come up with, it is a vast and I mean vast improvement in terms of quality, control, and functionality, I have zero delay and mine is mounted behind my tv.

The Android 11 Home Screen is a breath of fresh air, I have to tip my hat to the coders if this is running andriod tv and it really looks like it is and functions like it is then bravo. Everything is smooth, everything from the play store installs and functions as it should. Plex, Emby, Kodi, Syncler, eveything runs well and works well with the remote.

Buzz TV App: Well done buzz team well done 👏 with many 3rd party applications out there like tivimate and IMplayer this is not an easy game and it’s a battle for foothold. I will say this it works and it works really well. The usage of VLC as an internal player is genius and really solves a lot of codec and player problems out of the gate. The color mappable buttons on the remote inside of the app is really nice. Recording is nice, catch-up is nice, the new timeshift feature is a serious welcome addon, people don’t realize how nice it is to pause your channel while your kid is having a fit or you have to run to take the washroom. (Here’s looking at you taco Tuesday) the VOD section works extremely well. I don’t have anything to complain about.

This is what I have played with so far, if anyone wants anything tested please feel free to post here and I’ll try my best to get to it. If you are looking for a specific application please note that I don’t have really any login info for anything other then Syncler, Real Debrid and stuff for Kodi so if you want me to try HBO apps or Hulu or whatever you will need to DM me and supply me with login details. Don’t worry about me useing it ever again I have been around here a long time and honestly don’t give a hoot about resharing or selling your Discovery plus account 🤣

They decided not to go through Hdd route this time, for me it works because it will still fit behind my tv on my old roku ultra mount

Guys box is solid, no issues as of yet. Speed, remote, Buzztv 5, official google. This is a huge win

Received mine a couple of dats ago. Very fast and smooth switching. Easy to get up and running. WIFI is strong. Haven`t tried a HDD but plan to install a 256 micro sd card. Very happy with it so far.

Nice box but I hate the remote. It's very hard to read the buttons especially in low light. The remote with the 4900 was the best.

LOL! I didn't know it had backlighting, I'm still exploring the features of the new box.

Problem now is in the Remote Control Setup it says "Connecting" and the Backlight tab is greyed out. How do I get it to connect?

Yes, I can only select the tv setup and color keys, the other two options are greyed out.

if paired in settings/remote it should show bt-400 and under it connected
if it shows connected go to buzz utilities/remote control to turn backlight on

Today I went back to the remote setup app and the remote is connected, firmware showing V07 and I can now select the backlight option. I don't understand why it is suddenly working - I didn't do anything else. :noidea:

Finally got my buzz5 running after 2 days this box doesn’t work with some servers , why back light only stays on for lest than 5 seconds , can I change to longer time ? And the volume on the box is not that good for me , I have to race the Tv volume very high

there is no volume from the box if paired to tv
it uses tv volume
any other box I have to set my tv's to 60%
I've had no issues connecting to any servers

myself I just use my bt-200 as it has more buttons for stuff like this
