Apparently where a galaxy/galaxies appear curved it is visual proof of Einstein's hypothesis that gravity would bend light. The mass between the viewer and the object is seen through a lens of sorts. Amazing.

Also proof of a gravity well around a singularity, or curved space/time, this is why we orbit around our Sun, we're constantly spiraling in, but our forward momentum keeps us from going all the way down the rabbit hole.
