Using STB emu did a reload earlier and just did now. Everything looks to be on its way back. I'm seeing more channels working now than half an hour ago. I wasn't even aware of it until three users texted me all at the same time around 8 est. Thanks!

I just connected via my phone on a completely different network/provider and its down. My friends are also on different providers than myself and its not working for them. No one I know with OK2 has working streams during World Cup.

Interesting:
https://torrentfreak.com/canadas-federal-court-issues-fifa-world-cup-piracy-blocking-order-221024/

"All major Canadian ISPs must comply with the order by blocking server IP addresses used to transmit pirated World Cup streams. These measures only apply when the football matches are being broadcast; the so-called “match windows”."

"Unfortunately, the actual blocking targets are not published publicly. This information remains confidential to prevent the targeted operators from taking circumvention measures, such as moving to new streaming servers or changing IP addresses."

Change the server or IP if possible? It seems like Canadian ISPs are on to OK2 servers.

I'm with Start Communications and haven't had any issues with any live channels. The World Cup is a month long so people will need to start looking for a backup server since its on ISP end. I also use a couple other servers that are completely unaffected.

During matches as we have all seen, OK2 seems to be down. BUT after seeing the various posts above (that server is OK, and that federal mandate for blocking streams) I decided to try while using my VPN. My first attempt with my el-cheapo VPN, yielded no help (but I didn't expect much since streaming on that service has never worked well). But then I tried with my other VPN client and I connected through a random server in Costa Rica, and low and behold, all channels on OK2 are working.

So obviously it is not the server itself, but rather blocks imposed by ISPs (or above). At what levels, I don't know.

Hope they find a workaround soon. Maybe using a backup IP which is not blocked...

I have at least 2 other servers I use and both are not affected by this. Everything, including the games, stream perfectly.

BTW: Just curious, are OK3 and OK4 affected also ?

I ended up using VPNunilimited which is very far from being any Tier1 VPN provider (since I have a 5 device lifetime account), and many of their servers block streaming and slow. But I got lucky and managed to stream it using the Costa Rica server.

I'm sure some Tier1 VPN provider would be a lot better.

If you have access to a VPN server, use it to bypass Canadian ISP restrictions.

I don't know what method the ISPs are using to block the streams, but using a VPN can bypass what they are doing. Doesn't seem to be an simple IP block (since authentication works fine - which would fail also if it was just an IP block).

I also just tried on my phone with my Windscribe VPN free account (which I have 50GB of data on it), and used the German free server location (used Stealth connection - TCP/443 - since I'm at the office and to get past the firewall) and I am able to stream (just tried TSN1 - and was pretty solid).

Well kickoff 1 minutes ago, and all went black.

Thought maybe the ISPs had decided to spare us this time, so we can watch Canada play, but after a minute, it all froze. Oh well :)

Turned on my free Windscribe VPN (I have 50GB/m free), connected to toronto server which is my default, and all is streaming fine again.

Anyone in this IPTV hobby, should always have backups if you can't go without missing something. I have 2 other servers and both do not experience blackouts (guess they are not on the ISP radar - YET). I also have 2 VPN services to be able to bypass local ISP restrictions, or even remote geolocation restrictions. Hey, it's a cat & mouse game.

This just proves that right now, the ISPs (which are mostly owned by big media giants - who hate IPTV), do have the power to block access to many servers.

If this was a simple fix, I am sure they would have already implemented it. I don't think anyone expected it.

They have a totally free vpn with no data or bandwidth caps. I have never used a vpn and luckily, this isp blocking hasn't yet affected me.
Just trying to find something to help the clients out that are being affected. They also don't want to pay for a vpn when they can just switch to a service that isn't affected. But that could also change down the road I assume.

The free version of proton VPN only allows you to choose from 3 countries (US, JPN, Netherlands). And the US servers are pretty heavily loaded most of the times. And for NL and JPN severs, well they are so far away that there will be lag I am sure (but if they have bandwidth that may not bee too bad for streaming. I haven't tried the NL or JPN servers, but the US servers were NOT useable for any streaming (at least at the time I tried).

Winscribe VPN has a free offering also, but it is by default only 10GB/month unlimited connection. I know they used to offer a voucher code to upgrade that to 50GB/month (which is what I used ages ago) and it works quite well. I don't know if the voucher is still available/working, but you can check out the link below which is a quick review. About halfway through the article it shows you how to enter the voucher (and the voucher code). Like I said, I don't know if it is still available, but it is worth a shot. I keep windscribe on my phone for when I connect to public WiFi and to bypass restriction of some firewalls. Their Stealth connection uses TCP/443 which is very rarely blocked (since it is the same port for https). For a free vpn it is a no brainer.

But even with IPvanish, it will depend from one vpn server to another. Some will clearly throttle any streaming and/or p2p stuff, and some may even be overloaded. You will need to try a different server.

With Windscribe, the first 2 servers I tried were constantly buffering. Then I tried 2 others and they worked perfectly.

With Windscribe, the first 2 servers I tried were constantly buffering. Then I tried 2 others and they worked perfectly.

really?
so I can pick a different server?:noidea:

Using IP Vanish nothing would work using "Wireguard" went into settings set VPN Protocol to "Open Vpn" Then protocol to "Open VPN (TCP) and now all is fine.

if you are blocked you can try an alternate DNS as 1.1.1.1 (cloudFlare), 8.8.8.8 (google), or open DNS...etc might help :)

Anyone able to provide some insight as to where we might stand with this issue? As it is right now, the bulk of my users are still getting black screens across everything. Doesn't matter if they do a power cycle and unplug everthing for a few hours or not.. At this point, I'm just not quite sure what I should be telling them. Are we expecting things to calm down and become stable again once the World Cup is over? My "guy" recommended we move everyone to ok3, which is not something I'm alright with unfortunately.

Cheers!

This is likely an issue with your user's not using a VPN, M3u and XC's are just broken down into individual M3u lines which all have their own IP address, if those address are being blocked by an ISP then a VPN would be the solution.

I think I can count on one hand the amount of users 8 have setup with an m3u/xc tbh.

So I just want to clear this one up; are you saying that the ok2 guys are now saying to use vpn with the service? Cause I experimented with this q bit, I deployed a few of my own Von's, those sort of worked while using express and ipvanish, multiple servers for both really didn't solve anything for me at all..

I'm just wondering, where the guys stand with this particular issue (ok2 guys) and if they're thinking this has to do with the world Cup or what not.

As for the whole ISP being the issue, I'm not really buying that one at this time. I've got folks spread across the country, some on Shaw, some on Rogers and Cogeco and others in smaller local providers. Most, if not all that I have heard from in the last week or so have all been dealing with the same issue.. power cycles, even up to 24 hours on length don't seem to help either.

hero, any chance if you see this you could chime in brother?

Thanks fellas!

I have hundreds of clients on ok2. Almost 75% if not more have had this issue (all over the place with isp providers), guaranteed black out from 5am or whatever the time is when the first game starts to last match late afternoon. At first service would come on shortly after. Forward a week and well... half or more sporadically would or wouldn't get service.
They don't want to change service, as they are used to ok2 lists, so I set them up with vpn, everything runs perfect for them. Not a single one has complained since, well, for this.. hahaha. User error is another thread ;-)

I'm assuming if fifa got the ok to do this, Nhl nfl etc will surely follow as a precedent has been set in this country and many others.

This is just my experience with this problem, I'm not saying for you to do it, but what I've done has worked, so, in my opinion and to answer the question, yes, use a decent vpn.

Hey, thanks for replying. Any chance you'd mind sharing which vpn you set them up with? You could DM me, if you'd like. Maybe best to not air that one in public, I'm not sure, simply because I don't understand the issue...

I feel as though it's a difficult situation to try and understand, only because there's so much misinformation floating around out there... My provider for instance; their either telling me that "yes, we know there's an issue. it's been reported and we're waiting for a tech to take care of it" or "ok2 is done for if I had to guess. Best we switch to something else".

I, much like yourself, really don't want to have to move everyone. Mostly because the one's I have on ok2 are for the most part, getting up there in age and/or not technically inclined and they're just not wanting to change services. I guess they got comfy with the ok2 lineup...

If I can find a VPN that tests properly, I will look into to somehow providing them with that. Or better yet, if I can verify that running a vpn is 100% the way to go, and these silly outages are no longer to be seen using it, then I'll order a decent server at ovh and setup a vpn for everyone to use.. of course, I'd rather not go that route but I feel that not doing anything or just waiting is going to cost me a huge chunk of my user base, which it already has...

I don't see any reason why I would need to keep the vpn service I use on the down low lol.
I have been using vpn.ac for years. I have never had any problems with it. it is VERY configurable, solid service and they have wireguard included (up to 6 connections).
I run two networks at my house, vpn for my boxes, the other for everyone else to use. I have all my services streaming on 4 tvs 24 7 without any issues.
As i stated earlier, If i disconnect ok2 service from vpn, and run without, it immediately stops working (at least live tv). switch back to vpn, and it works.
I'm almost positive ok2 isn't disappearing, considering who we have on this forum. I'm almost positive they would let us know that.

As for running a virtual server, why? Make the client pay for a vpn service. Both vpn and iptv together is a fraction of paying a monthly cable/sat bill and you are also not contractually obligated to keep that vr server (I believe most have a year or two term contract, i could be wrong, according to my wife I'm always wrong, but again, that is a completely different thread haha)
I'm almost positive you could probably use one vpn account for a few clients, I run it at home, at work and on my phone at the same time, all on one account. My work internet service is based out of USA, so My vpn connects multiple devices from different geos without an issue.
I believe vpn.ac is around 60USD a year.

One of my iptv services doesn't like vpns, get the Cloudflare 1020 or whatever error. Ive tried many vpns for it. Some work but its hit and miss because you can't always configure them to connect to same server every time.
Vpn.ac allows that, and that iptv service works fine (when you find the working server for it, in this case it's based out of the states)
I'm thinking more on the client end that is not tech savy . they (and I) just want it to work, hence the ability to configure this service, it works as you tell it to, every-time the same way.

get a decent vpn, try it out for yourself.
Good luck!

yes, clients i am using the apps. Using android vpn always connect option (if using wireguard) vpn app has auto connect and run option at boot. so no need for the android always connect option.

My house, I run a mini pc type thing i built, dedicated to vpn, running to a router/switch blah blah blah to boxes (all wired). wifi is available if need to connect the vpn.

I'd be a little suspicious about the quality and bandwidth when they even clearly advertise "unlimited connections - so you can share with family and friends". Hmm.. Something just doesn't sound right. What would stop one reseller of buying a subscriptions and then sharing it will all their clients.

Some low end VPNs, even though they are great for browsing and stuff, may not be stable or sufficient enough for streaming. I know some will explicitly limit streaming and p2p transfers ONLY from specific servers (which are typically overloaded anyhow).

Why don't you try something like windscribe. They have a free version which has limited servers and only 10GB per month. But at least you get to try it before you buy it. And the android app is pretty decent. And checkout post #101 in this thread and you may even be able to increase the free 10GB/month to 50GB/month. I have used it's stealth connection (ie: TCP/443), to stream a few games when I was at the office (to bypass both our corp firewall) and had no issues streaming from at least 2 of the free servers (on in Ontario, and I think the other one was the Costa Rica server during the first game. If you like it, you can upgrade to Pro version for unlimited bandwidth and more server choices. They often have specials on.

So, it appears that with the exception of those that have Shaw, most seem to have service as of a couple hours ago.. Well, those that reached out to me anyhow..

With that said though, If it were 1, 2 users then I would 100% agree with you about it being a setup issue man! But for the most part, most of my users complaining of the same issue? Being a setup issue is simply not possble. I simply don't see that being an option when that many users are saying the same thing anyway...

The only way I could potentially see it being an issue with something they're using/doing wrong and/or the issue being a problem with their setup is if the DNS has changed in the last week and a half to two weeks (maybe less?) seeing as I provide my users who are with this specific service a hardcoded copy of stbemu and/or XCIPTV....

I know that I've been testing multiple VPN's, the one's that seem to be working the most without issue are all the VPN's I've deployed myself. They are deployed in the following datacenters; Hetzner in Finland, AWS montreal and OVH BHS which of course is Montreal.

The one I had the least amount of issues with was Hetzner, although latency did become a problem which makes sense with it being all the way out in Europe... But yeah, just wanted to drop a reply..

Cheers

The person with the issue installs surfshark on there device and sends you the code on screen, you enter the code and it opens takes two minutes. I previously had expensive ipvanish with device limitations. Surfshark does everything it says it does at a fair price.

I needed a VPN to access US program streaming on my Amazon stick. I tried up to 6 VPN services that offered a free trial, meaning you had to still pay up front and than cancel within the 30 day window for a refund. Some fought to keep you, some just cancelled. I tried the top VPN's. ( Nord, surfshark, Vanish, Express, Etc )

I found myself disappointed as obviously some even the top VPN names were tagged, blocked, no matter how many servers, different types of connections I tried. Some passed on some US providers, while others passed on others, but couldn't find one that got through them all on the right time zone.

I had windscribe free service so tried it and it was working out better than some of the big names. I now using their Pro version but since I only need to access or only want to access US streaming I took their option of US servers only at $2.00 US a month unlimited. Once in awhile I get blocked by one US programming provider in particular and have to try different severs, connection types, need some patience, cat & mouse game, but usually succeed. Windscribe I find also has a easy simple layout.

I think it depends on your needs what VPN service will work out best for you.

As for a VPN, I have been using cyberghost for a few years and no hiccups.
I was just playing around last night and decided to install adguard vpn through the apktime apk app and it worked quite well for the few hours it was connected. No buffering whatsoever and totally free, not sure if u need to pay later after bandwidth used.

Unfortunately, there was no soccer live last night so couldn’t really test and confirm if the games were watchable.
