Transponder question

I loved these receivers and haven't used it since I couldn't find an iks server several years back
I want to try true free to air on KU band and MAYBE C_band

Unless I can get all the transponders I won't bother and will have to buy a different receiver like the Amiko Or GT media or Edison

Does the T5 have up to date transponders like those other receivers?

No receiver has up to date transponder lists stored in it's memory's, but the satellite locations them selves, and in most cases you have to add or subtract them as well.

Once you find a satellite (like 97 West or more) you do a blind scan on "C" or "Ku" band (or regular scan) on that satellite, this will populate the transponder list (and channels) for that satellite.

With a single LNB on a stationary dish you will only be able to get one satellite, you would need a multi LNB setup on an elliptical dish or a motorized dish to get more.

I have a 4ft dish from 2001 that I never used and a brand new HH motor that I also never used - after IKS I just gave up on the hobby but recently I became enthused again - I guess I should have asked if the T5 had a firmware update to be dvb-s2 compliant instead (I think that's the standard) - seems like I may have to just get a newer receiver

4 foot dish may be a bit too big for a standard H to H motor, they are usually used on 20 to 38 inch dishes. (depends on the motor)

A 4 foot dish would need what is called a polar mount, a 2-1/2 to 3 inch ground mounted pipe for that mount and a linear actuator, then you could get a "C" "Ku" combo LNB for that setup.

A new receiver would be nice also needed would be a "V" box to move the dish.
