I agree with DU and others on this one. The 4900 is great. But pretty much any of the newer ▄5 series devices (including the B5 and E5 which are entry level boxes for all intensive purposes), are great. The B5 ad E5 really surprised me. Not only with image quality, but even how quick they respond.
Obviously the image quality is only as good as the source. So it you are streaming 720p streams on a 4k 70" TV, don't expect miracles :)

What's the latest model? The reason I ask is I have a friend that wants the best Buzz box for streaming.

Latest is not always the best. The latest ro be released I believe are the B5 and E5. They are great boxes but they are more geared to be budget friendly.

Then you have the X5, U5, and HD5.

The U5 is ideal for anyone doing a lot of PVR recording, since it is similar to the trusty xrs4900, and it has a slot on the underside of the box to support an HDD. If you go with the U5, I do strongly recommend getting and SSD instead of traditional mechanical drive. Box has 4GB of RAM, and since it allows the addition of a SATA drive, this box only has 32GB of onboard storage. Has USB2 and USB3 ports, HDMI and a Gigabit LAN. The U5 wifi, is WiFi 6.

The X5 is similar to the U5 in terms of internal CPU (which is the S905X4). It also has 4GB of RAM, But it comes in 64GB or 128GB of internal storage varieties. And has to external Antenna for the WiFI. Also Has USB2 and USB3 ports, HDMI and a Gigabit LAN. The WiFi on the X5 is Wifi 5.
** HOWEVER, they have released a newer version of the X5, the "BuzzTV X5 AX Special Edition", which has WiFi 6.

The HD5 is more of a little portable device. Only comes with 2GB or RAM and 16GB of internal storage, and the CPU is the the 905y4 (unlike the X5 and U5 which have the 905X4). Has only a USB2 ports, HDMI and a 10/100 LAN.

The B5 is the ultimate entry level budget box which has 2GB RAM, 16GB storage, and BuzzTV5. Has a 10/100 LAN connection and WiFi 5. CPU is the S905W2. Only comes with an IR remote (IR100), and USB2.

The E5 is a step up from the entry level B5, with 2GB RAM but 32GB storage, and BuzzTV 5. Has a 10/100 LAN connection and WiFi 5. Also comes with an IR remote (The upgraded IR200), and USB3. Uses the same CPU (S905X4) as the X5 and U5 devices. For an entry device, this unit does impress.

All of these devices typically comes with the Bluetooth BT400 remote, and all the newer devices have Android 11.

My recommendation (assuming it's within your budget):
If you do a lot of recording and downloading from your VOD provider, then the U5 would be the ideal choice. And I would pair it with an SSD that I'd get separately. If recording is not an issue and not a feature you'll use much, then I'd probably go with he X5 AX Special edition.

Here are 2 links with some nice comparisons of the different devices.

and

this one also compares with some of the older Android 9 devices - but missing the U5 and X5 Special edition

But honestly, I also have 2 xrs4900 (older Android 9 boxes) and they are still amazing boxes.

worldwidesatellites seems to have some stock, but the price is pretty much the same as the U5 and the X5 AX special edition, so there is really no point. Unless someone has some other sources :)

there's 3 businesses there at that address and all 3 have no 4900's
and the price was always the same as the x/u 5

I am thinking of up grading from a Formuler Z7+. I will never need a box for recording. My main concerns are Great picture and ease of use along with an acceptable amount of Ram and a good processor. I was thinking of the XRS 4000? Is that a good choice or should I be looking at the 4900 or the Newer models you mentioned? Buzz has so many I am confused. I also wanted to stay around the $150 CAD mark.

E5 would be a good choice. Same processor as the more expensive X5

Buzz classic sits between the e5 and the x5 price wise

The Classic is great. Compared to the E5, it doubles the RAM, doubles the storage, and comes with the BT-250 remote which is Bluetooth and has integrated AirMouse.

If on a super tight budget, the E5 is great. Same processor as the X5 and Classic, but you get less onboard storage, less RAM, and only an IR remote. But same image quality and processor speed as the X5.

Don't know when buzztv global will start carrying the Classic, but don't forget the satfix discount code (10% discount) still works.

https://www.satfix.to/showthread.php?217858-buzz-coupon-code&p=1356534

With the discount, the E5 comes to just about $150 (depending on which province/taxes) including free shipping, on buzztvglobal website.

If you don't mind IR remote and will use it for IPTV (with integrated BuzzTV 5 app) 95% of the time the E5 is plenty.
If you prefer BT remote, or will be adding other apps like Kodi which can be a little bit of a memory hog depending on plugins, then the Classic would be probably be a better bet for a few bucks more.

Keep in mind all the series 5 boxes (B5, E5, X5, U5, HD5, and The Classic) run AndroidTV 11. The 4000 series boxes (and the E2 series) are running Android 9 (not AndroidTV). The BuzzTV app is identical on either platform, and often sent to Android9 boxes (via OTA) before AndroidTV 11 boxes.

I can find nothing about the "Classic" Model? Not on the Buzz website nor from Mr Google. The E5 sounds like it will do the job and in my budget. Would really like to compare it to the Classic before making a decision. Also I read that there can be fewer problems running Android 9 vs 11?

https://www.satfix.to/showthread.php?225086-introducing-the-buzz-classic&p=1367289#post1367289

Not sure when it will be up on buzztvglobal for sale however.

PS: The difference is not only Android 9 vs 11. It is Android vs AndroidTV. I have been using Android TV since version 6 (on my original Mii Box 3) which eventually got updates all the way up to Android 9. Same on the Nvidia Shield. Android TV experience is just so much better compared to just a plain Android.

You will not be disappointed with the E5. And the IR remote is so much better than the junk IR remotes you get with random cheap Chinese android boxes. Sometimes I have used the wrong remote with my box (ie: not the one that is paired) and I completely forget that it is only working because of the IR. The IR transmitters and receivers have a pretty broad angle for pickup.

You mention Android 11TV but in the specs it just says Android 11. Am I missing something as I don't know anything
about the TV version of Android.
