I have a T5 that behaves the same way, but only on 1 of 3 tv's I have.It only does it on my panasonic, not on the 2 LG's.If possible, can you try it on another tv in your house? In my case, Tried all the ususal:module, power supply hdmi cable, different tv inputs, ect, but it was always the same on the Panasonic...2 second blackouts several times an hour.I think it's an hdmi handshake issue between the T5 & the Panasonic.Worth a try if you can.As per software, the 0106 is the latest & best.Use it.You won't lose your server data on the software upgrade, but you will if you install the factory bin.

How do you turn off the handshaking feature?

It is a function of the tv or home theater receiver, or both.It will be labelled CEC function

That's one of the Reasons I shy away from Panasonic & Sony Equipment, Both Company's tend to input
their own signature/software into their Stuff, basically forcing you to use their equipment to be compatible
with each Other etc.

Anyone know what its call in a Sharp Aquos TV? Or is it just CEC, I'm not at TV to check right now.

Cut'n paste:
Where is CEC setting on Sharp Aquos TV?
Press the Menu button on your Sharp TV remote. Select System Options. Select AQUOS Link Setup. Set AQUOS Link Control to On.
...
HDMI CEC:
Go to the settings menu. ...
Select All Settings.
Select General.
Select SIMPLINK (HDMI-CEC).
Set SIMPLINK (HDMI-CEC) toOn.

if all fails and your having a lot of problems i ended up having to change my hdmi port. how i came to that conclusion was messing around with the cable. i moved the box one day and must of hit the cable just right and the picture went out. i plugged it back in and picture came on. try pulling the hdmi cable out of its port just a little bit and i mean just a little bit. that’s how i determined that my port was wore out. i haven’t had problems since then.

good luck finding the port of you replace it. getting harder to find that style.

Are you running direct to a TV or through an Amp? You could always us RGB and L/R audio, it wont cut out then and quality is the same.

How old is the older TV?

It could be something wonky with HDCP support* on the Dreamlink box, older TV's don't care too much about that, the newer ones do.

It is most likely the Wonky HDMI port on the T5, I had one doing the same as yours, I ended up using AV-To-HDMI Converter

to Solve the Problem.

Will there be a noticable picture difference between composite and component?

red/yellow/white yields 480p which is sd only.Red/blue/green yields 720p on an hd broadcast. Some tvs can upscale 720p to 1080I.The picture difference/quality is quite noticeably better on hd broadcasts with red/blue/green,even when converted to hdmi.

You need a power supply at 12v 3.5-6 amp for the T5 to operate properly, and also how much equipment
the Box has to power-up (dishes,LNB's,long cable runs,HD Module, etc. etc.) You should also have cooling measures
in place (FANS) to keep the components inside from Over-Heating. if you are using HDMI For hook-up the cable
Spec's for the Vizio to T5 have to match (1.2 1.3 1.4 etc.) and in some cases you might need a booster/converter
of some kind, cause some T5's have the WONKY HDMI PORT, I have one with it and I had to hook-up with a
Component to HDMI Converter for mine to work right.

I'm using a similar setup:I have a thin 12v 80mm fan mounted on the iside of the cover.I'm using the 3 pin connector near the front left corner of the mainboard. It's 5vdc, so the fan runs slower, but very quietly.Still nice & cool, & it looks factory.I have 7 units out there all the same config. We use 4 & 5 amp power supplies with good results.

No the dish is good, I got really good signal on both lnbs.
Did a lot of tests, it really seem to be powersupply or hd module. It did reboot without but just once.

It felt by itself, so I put it back on the module with thermal compound.

If your 8psk is getting too hot, even with supplemental cooling, AND you have had multiple power supply problems, you probably have a cabling/lnb/switch issue causing this.Time to look deeper in to the cause rather than the effect.I have only once replaced an 8psk for the second time on a dreamlink, and never a power supply for the second time.I have about a dozen dreamlinks out there.I assume you're using at least 3.5 amp supplies?
If your unit has the silicone block heat sink, take note that they are slightly rectangular rather than square.Be sure to install it the way that gives it the best crush between the the 8psk & the cover. You should feel a slight warm spot where the block & the cover contact.

No I checked everything, I got a 4amps and 5 amps powersupply, a laptop cooling system (not connected on the box), my lnbs and cabling are fine.

I know that my problem was the heat of the module. Thats better since I put new thermal paster with goog heat sink.
