CHICAGO -- When Bobby Hull got the puck, he was tough to stop. He had blazing speed, a hard slap shot and tons of confidence.

Long before today’s biggest stars took the ice, “The Golden Jet” put on quite a show.

Hull, a Hall of Fame winger and two-time NHL MVP who helped the Chicago Blackhawks win the Stanley Cup in 1961, has died. He was 84.

The Blackhawks and the NHL Alumni Association announced Hull's death on Monday. There were no further details provided by either organization.

first time I met him and his brother was just over 50 years ago
my dad was ready to choke them at the time
the last I saw dennis was when buying a car and I asked him if he remembered that encounter
he asked if my dad was still around and when I said yes he told the salesman to knock 20% off the price to avoid any problems...lol
they were both nice guys
RIP bobby

Bobby was a member of a VERY elite group:they could score hat tricks. They could score 40 to 50 goals in a season. They were near impossible to catch on skates. When that was done, they could defeat any enforcer on ice with .There have been hundreds of skill hockey players , but a very few like Bobby Hull,Gordie Howe, Maurice Richard,& a few more. They would lose half of their edge in todays NHL with the changes in the game, but still be some of the best to ever have played .

compare them to todays ,, Zdeno Chara, Evander Kane, Milan Lucic,, etc
players that can play, score and throw down ... sure they don't score 50
but neither would the old players if they played against todays goalies

Correction , I'll take that back --- because on second thought, it's all relative

Today we have a few guys scoring 50 on today's goalie and about 800 who are not
So for those old guys to have scored 50 on their goalie is just as impressive as todays guys
