This image was taken just as the ship passed Oscarsborg, the same fortress the German heavy cruiser flagship Blücher was sunk by during the surprise nighttime Nazi invasion of Norway in 1940. The position of the carrier is roughly where Blücher was located when Oscarsborg hit it with torpedos at extremely close range from it's secret torpedo battery on the island (hoping that the ship was an enemy ship), making it sink completely with significant casualties. The loss of their flagship caused the German forces to withdraw, and gave time for the royal family to escape from Oslo.
