For context: this is a photo taken yesterday after the latest eruption in Iceland. The eruption had been expected, so a fortification was built prior, but they had to leave a gap for the road which was there. With the lava flowing, they wanted to close the gap before the lava would reach it and start flowing towards the Grindavík town.
