ATTENTION STB EMULATOR USER

To those customer using STB Emulators please advise users to fill in random digits in the DEVICE ID and DEVICE ID2 fields. This can be done in the STB Emulator app, by pressing menu, into settings, selecting profiles, edit existing profile by highlighting and pressing ok button, STB configuration, Device ID, check mark send device ID, and Check custom Device ID2 and signature, and then fill up device ID2 with random Digits, then save and exit the app.

I'm curious as to why this needs to be done now? I did it , but wondering what it is for..

This adds a little more security to accounts. So now when the account is created it is initially bound to the MAC address. Then after first connect, it will also marry to the account to the Device ID entries sent by the client. So just a simple brute force attack on MAC only is a little more difficult since the DEVICE ID entries all need to match.

This was not enforced/required in the past. I guess in the very near future (if not done already), this option will be enabled and mandatory on the servers going forward.

thats very old and didnt work even novice programs like storm solve
device id`s if the server uses more like s/n, device 1 and 2 it will be reported
in the pastebin txt the txt is jiotv it only needs a device key it is expired
as you can see this also pumps out much more info when the sub is live
paste the ip`s in the text to your browser use the cats.

if a hacker gets a device id error on a hit in the other novice scanners
they just run it through storm of course these are mags so when a scan is done
there can be hundreds of hits not all come from mags but ppl whom run mags you will
need their id`s to run their subs. these are novice scanners with open bullet you can
find more info depends on what you want and how you write a config.

players like sfvip are and have been ready for these
ott nav etc

Dont shoot the messenger but this is done by thousands
and is probably what causes most of the problems with id`s
ill be happy to show anyone.....

I have one person that has OK 3 with me and we have done the thing for STB emulator but his box almost every day for the last 5 days goes to Contact Provider. Should I change the mac not sure why it is happening with ID2 with random Digits. Could the mac be compromised. Also he is running 2 different Firesticks and has 2 accounts.

The only users that have had issues on my panel are the ones (2 of them) that are using a Firestick. Not sure if its the stick or the emulator.

Yep..only end users i had issues with were the firesticks or android boxes using the stb emulator.
I forced them to buy the buzz boxes as I hate phone calls after phone calls to fix there problem , buy buzz or leave me alone was my motto.

I only have 2 users who are using stb emulators and both are using them on older MiiBox 3 units. Rest are on Buzz boxes.

For one of them I went over (since I was in the area and she is elderly) and made the changes myself. The other one is a friend's daughter out west, (was moving her from OK2 to ok3 at the same time), so I created an "illustrated guide for dummies", sent it to her and she managed to do it herself. Have not had any issues with either of them.

A few months back I had 2 users who saw an "expiry" on their accounts when they were not expired yet. But confirmed that it was after a maintenance. I reset it once, and had no issue since then.

I know both of my stb emulators users well, and I know that they only have that 1 box. But I do know many others using other services, where they pay for 1 sub, and have the sub (configured with STBEmu and same MAC) on multiple boxes and try to ensure they only use one of the boxes at a time. Many of these users are finding that they need to request resets more and more often. So don't be surprised if many of the subs having issues, is because many users out there trying to save a buck by getting a single sub, and have a similar setup.
