Oceanside pier. It’s north San Diego County. Largest wooden pier on the west coast, I believe.
There were boats on both sides of the pier pumping water on the fire as this picture was taken. While it was still light out they even had helicopters dropping water and fire suppressors. Once it got dark, they called the choppers off and the fire seemed to be mostly out for a few hours, but around 3:00 AM the wind picked up and reignited the inferno. Once the fire kicked back up it was game over.
