"It's not every day you witness a scene like this", are the words of a 20minuten reader, who on Tuesday witnessed a Ferrari fall into the Simmen river, near the town of Boltigen, in the canton of Bern.
According to the 21-year-old's story, the driver would have "lost control of the vehicle in zone 80" and would have crashed into a second car. He would then "end up in the river".
The driver of the Ferrari subsequently had to deal with the current: "He was unable to reach the river bank," continues the 21-year-old. It would have taken at least 40 minutes until the firefighters arrived on site to bring him back to dry land.
The Bern cantonal police confirmed the incident, specifying that the causes of the accident are still being clarified and that the events date back to 3.30pm on Tuesday.
The drivers of the crashed vehicles were transported to hospital by ambulance.
