Are you calling me a dummy. LOL
I always had Fords, never a problem. Put on a lot of kilometres commuting for 35 years. My current Expy has over 200K and still going great. Tows my 8,000 lb trailer like a charm.

The issues aren't so much with the 10 year old models...it's the last 7 years or so bro.

It's all this Electronic/Computer controlled gad-jets that are causing problems, & so Expensive to fix compared to
The old stuff that didn't have all this Electric/computer Crap on them, and People new how to fix/repair them with-out
the Sophisticated equipment that is needed Now.

It's deeper than that Auggie. My beef with Fords over the past few years (other makes too) is the tiny engines they use & turbo boost the hell out of them to give them decent power. This was their way of meeting fuel economy requirements, but the longevity is largely gone. The last year I had my shop, I was at The Ford dealership quite often taking in new model Fords for warranty work for a fleet i was taking care of.The truck service area was always JAMMED with 150/250/350 trucks with the ecoboost engines, & some diesel, out for repair or replacement. These were engines failing within the warranty periods. It was just nuts for several years.Getting service was next to impossible. It got so bad that the fleet I serviced decided to go lease instead of purchase & turn them in every 100k kilometers to try & sidestep the cost & downtime of long term commitments.Pretty sad.

Yes there something to be said about the old cars/trucks where any Back-yard Mechanic or Good old Boy
could work on them, and you could just about go into any Junk yard and find parts you needed to keep you going etc.
Also where the quality control for the most part was a lot Better then.

I remember when the 5.4 engines were blowing out spark plugs and at the beginning they had to remove the entire cab to do the necessary repairs. Finally a tool was manufactured to eliminate the cab removal...what a joke!!!
I'm not a Ford or even a domestic driver but I can say that most makes have had their issues. If we listened to all the problems we would be walking. Remember the soft camshafts in the Chev 305. I replace hundreds in my shop.

The Skyhawk, Monza, Sunbird had to have the engine lifted a bit to access some plugs.

In the 80's a Chev 305 tune-up consisted of plugs,wires,cap,rotor,choke pull-off,cam,lifters & timing chain set.lol
Did MANY myself.
