One of my mom's friend escaped from Auschwitz. She was left for dead and thrown on a pile of dead bodies in the incinerator room. She woke up from the cold of the corpses and was able to escape the camp due to the lack of security in that building.

I had a history teacher in high school that lived through it and discussed her experience with the class. She showed us her tattoo that the Nazis put on her.
