View Full Version : Did Nimiq 6 used to be Nimiq 1?

The reason I ask is my sat list only shows Nimiq 1 at 91.0w. It has no Nimiq 6. I have only been using 82 for the last several years.
Is it just a matter of editing the specifics in the list and transponders, or do I need an updated sat file?
Please excuse my silly questions. I cannot find anything about this on the site. It's been several years that I've had to do anything on this box so I am feeling a bit behind on what is going on.
Thanks

Yes on the SV8000 it is listed as Nimiq 1-3, under Sat. Dish Setting, also (on mine anyways) above signal meter
lite blue it says Galaxy (91 W) I believe it is due to the software/firmware hasn't been updated "FOREVER"
But when you do a Sat. Scan it will be scanning Bev 91, If you haven't updated the TP settings you need to do that first
Before doing a Sat. Scan.

First of all you have to be able to receive 91. Check the single strength on 91.If you are using a single lnb dish you would only get one sat at a time. It would be setup on either 82 or 91, not both.
If you have a dual lnb or quad lnb setup, you should be able to get both 82 and 91. Check the signal strength on 91. It might need some adjustments.
You will also need a Disque switch to feed 2 sats into the receiver from the 2 lnbs. The switch is usually placed near the dish. You run 2 short pieces of coax from the lnbs to the switch and use 1 coax from the switch to the house. Plus configure the switch to ports 1 and 2 in Dish settings.
Let us know your hardware so we can help with setting 91 up.
Is your dish capable of receiving both sats at once?
Have you ever used 91?
Do you have a switch setup?
You have the option of adding a sat or re-naming a sat to Nimiq 6. Menu - Dish Setting - Click on the sat you want to use for Nimiq 6 - Yellow Button to rename. Red button to add.
Or, delete the old Nimiq at 91 and add a new sat, naming it Nimiq 6, and rescan the sat.

Years ago, I had both on the same dish. I have been on 82 for about 6 years. I am moving over to 91 due to all channels moving over. I have an elliptical dish with a single LNB. Signal and Quality was good for 82. Tried adjusting to 91 but signal is only around 60%. I don't think I'm on it. Nothing is showing up on above the signal chart. Will try again tomorrow.
