Very cool indeed.... <br />
The car comes with 4 gallons of gas,, charged at .. $ 1.33/gallon -- or .08/litre

That would be 35 cents per litre bro.133.00 divided by 3.79 litres = 35 cents per litre.

so they were ripping buyers off for gas?
in 1979 gas was 90¢/gallon in ontario

you missed one step ... it's 4 gallons not 1 ... so 4 us gallons is 15.14 litres ... 1.33 divided by 15.14 is 8.7 cents per litre

I corrected TLG's post, not Dogdayz

they said $1.33/gallon

I missed that ... probably because he finished with 8 cents per litre

just an observation and a bit of a sad commentary on how useless the online calculators are that extrapolate a current value using inflation ...

if you take the given cost of the gas and use one of the online tools that gives you a current value based on inflation you see that the 1.33 in 1969 would have a value of 11.82 in todays dollars that's pretty close and doesn't seem out of the ordinary.

However, if you take the total value of the car 4,083.72 and apply the same formula it suggests that car should have a value of 36,305.42. IMHO it doesn't appear to be even close to reality.

What's any of the newer Shelbys worth, I would imagine they are close to $100,000.

what they're worth and what they cost are 2 different things

It is acually $1.33 for 4 gallons of gas so .33 a gallon or .08 a liter
