When pressing the Home button on the box should it bring up the similar screen as on the Buzz5 operating system?

They are one and the same. Pressing home screen in buzz 5 takes you to the buzz 6 home screen

Were there preloaded Apps in the updates. I was looking for Google Play to download some apps. I would like to load a VPN but there isn`t any app to do so.

This is a Linux box. Not an android box.

There is NO app store.. It's integrated IPTV app only.

This is an L1, not P6. There is no Buzz TV 5 on the L1 as far as I know :)

When you turn on the box, it starts at the home screen ?

What version of software/firmware do you have (check in settings).

1.0.67 is the latest public version for the L1, which was released about a month ago.

BTW: There is a known bug with the VPN UI. Once you configure anything in the VPN screens, before connecting or assuming something is not there, reboot the box quickly (only takes 10 seconds or so anyhow), and then go back in. There seems to be a refreshing issue with the UI. They are aware of it, and will be fixed probably in a update really soon, along with a few other little improvements.

Do I use my own VPN I pay for or is there one in the program for the Box

No subscriptions are included with the box.
The box only includes an OPENVPN client which can be used by most VPN providers (but typically only available to paying users - so typically not included with any free tiers if they offer any).

I use ipvanish and went to their site to get the openvpn config for linux
I then edited it to only have a about 10 locations
makes it faster when selecting locations to load
so when I open openvpn I loaded each location seperately
