... discussed in a hijacked thread previously:D
Costa , it's a 10 or 12 footer, in sections (6 or 8). I've never seen anything like it - the pole is at least 12" in dia and has a platform , guess they didn't have ladders in those days .lol It's located in front of a sat dealer store so it might be something that was made for dealers :noidea: Maybe someone has more info..

Nice, could use a little tlc. Think I'll pass by next week and see if I can add it to my arsenal- could take the spot of my 6'. Weird looking arm, I've seen that only once before, beano has one like it on his 10' bud.

.. it's pointing due north - the guy's theory is that it helps him get noticed and brings in potential customers .
Tell him that you stopped at his store with the wife and she insisted that you go shopping somewhere else , something about being afraid of the moss growing on the dish .:D
... unfortunately you can't see the platform on the photos - it's hidden by the other antique dish ....

I hope he's willing to part with it because that would be an awesome addition to my lineup. Thanks for the info and pics Stan.

... well we'll both talk to him and hopefully persuade him to part with it . It will be fun taking it down .. will cost you tho ( one of ur famous roasts :D)
edit : btw , did you notice - the dish even has lighting wire around the perimeter . They certainly don't do thing that way any more!!

That beast is enormous. I've never seen a mount that size before. Not sure how to take it apart, panel by panel and attack the mount at the end. Also been thinking if my 24" venture jack would be adequate.
Were these photos from yesterday as well Stan?
there is a guy here who has a 12' solid with a wicked mount (but not as wicked as the one posted) and my second von weise 24" i got from him because it couldnt puch the dish. . .was a bit weak he said lol
so costactc you really gotta get something good for that, like and HD+ (Heavy Duty Plus) lol

Took these photos today - but the place was closed.... It would be easy to take apart on the pole - see the platform ?
The polar mount appears to be 4 - 5 feet across . Like you said ... A monster, should I send the photos to your wife ?lol
o man stan, if that polar mount it 4-5' that dish has to be headin close to bein a 16+ feet lol lol. . .

That dish hanging from the bottom of big bertha is 36 or 39"
Costactc

Bib Bertha really describes it well. If that dish hanging is 39", I'm thinking Bertha is 14'- huge. I don't even know if my pole can handle that weight let alone finding a jack that can move it.

... don't count your chickens till they're hatched Costa .lol Lets get our hands on the dish first .

Your right Stan, would be nice though. After what happened to the chicken man yesterday, think I'll count cows instead.:tehe::tehe:

That dish looks like it is mighty heavy, and trying to take it apart piece by piece wile it’s up in the air may be an adventure in it's self.
I would get a grade all (big fork truck with a long reach to it) and take it down in one piece, then take it apart on the ground; several heavy tow straps will do the job in getting it down.
Funny thing is that it looks like a TX/RX dish for 7 GHz television relay microwave.

Could be heavy ... I stopped by again and took a closer look on the back . Looks like the guy didn't trust the jack to prevent it from moving - he added some 2x4s and 2x6s .lol
The jack itself looks massive . Took some pictures but they are rather dark ( was rainin)
costactc will need to run two or three HD+ jacks in parellel to get that monster to move :tehe:
easily confused

That dish looks bloody massive. Most impressive. I got a line on a 16 footer, yesterday. It used to belong to a tv network and a local company was paid to remove it from the site. It is currently sitting behind their warehouse. I found out about it from my youngest sons best friend. He is going to see if I can get it. Says the mount base alone is huge

For a 16 footer if it's a solid one your going to need a big pad for it, at minimum 3 cubic yards of concrete to hold it down, and they don't move like a 10 food bud, not unless you have a really big (and expensive) gimbal mount for it.
It will make a nice fixed dish for your favorite bird.

Well this monster is mounted on a 12" dia pole - I'm going to ask the owner more details .
Just the grounding wire running along the circumference would indicate that it was a professional installation.
I think if Costa manages to get the dish he will have to move tho .lol
easily confused

I want to look into it but according to him it has motors for moving it. The network station burned down and they relocated so this dish had to be taken down. He said that the base with motors was huge and weight an awful lot. Sure bears further investigation.

I have no plans on moving, I just moved a year ago. If my pole for my 6' cannot accomodate that beast then I guess I'll have to pass. I'll still pass by and ask if he's willing to part with it.

Awe come on Costactc, you can always put it in your basement. LOL
That dish does look huge, reminds me of a dish on a Star Wars 'Death Star' or the communications dish on the 'Milenium Falcon'. Hahaha

Nice one guys. Actually already mentioned it to the wife, she doesn't mind as long as I have US Food Network up.
Only problem is I don't think the jack I'm using, which is a venture 24", and my pole can accomodate that beast. Would be nice but I'd have to buy a house with some land and I have no intention of moving.
cant ya just buy the land next to you? that way you can have 10 more BUDs over there :tehe:

You know what's funny is that most of the homes we looked at last year had about an acre of land- I'm sure I would have put that land to good use. Heck, I could have gotten into the dish farming business.
