Hello guys, I have mention you before that my friend is more of a Sat Finder tester then True FTA tester, he lend me his brand new Birdog USB Plus and I don't like it at all, first of all I was trying to aim a brand new DTV Slim Line 5 LNB with it, locating 101west first and never gave me "Found" message when I already hit the 101, I unplugged the birdog and installed the DTV HD receiver with a small TV and when I went to menu signal strength I was already on 101 west with 87% signal, so now I can't trust this sat finder to find the KA 99 and 103 west nor 110 and 119west that completes the new HD system. Any ideas why the Birdog didn't give me Found message? Thanks in advance TURBO.....................

About the Slim Line DTV 5LNB I'll start a new thread because that system is from USA and never have being tried here in Puerto Rico.

Interesting old bud, I too also have problems with this unit. Mine are quite simple, I find that when I find say sat 91 it will ring on say sat 119. Sat 82 will ring on sat 110 as well.Since I know most of the elevations I just use it to confirm. I am afraid the sat program they put out is not the best in isolating sats.

The thing is, my friend bought this birdog because they said it can handle DTV 5 LNB slim line, so I was trying it with the DTV slim line dish and nothing, I knew I found 101 because I used the sub dtv hd and there was the signal but to find the other 4 sats(including 99 and 103 KA Band) 110 and 119 dtv sats, it is impossible, and now that I don't trust the birdog even more impossible.
Last night I updated the latest version for birdog usb plus and went and tried again with the 101 already set and nothing, it doesn't recognize 101west.
I'll tell me friend to return it and get his money back. ty for the replay.

Is there a way I can edit the TP of each dtv 5lnb set up in the Birdog? I can get all the TP's at lyngsat and add them to the birdog but it will be for a custom set up, I was wondering edit the 103 and 99 with this TP and S/R FEC and give it a try to aim to those.

The birdog wont work for 99 and 103 as they are KA and the BD would only do KU for DTV.

It should detect 101,119 and 110...but wont even budge for the 103/99 KA satellites.

I got rid of my birdog a long time ago as I found out the limitations. For simple DN and BEV installs the birdog is fine...but for more technical installs and satellites...it falls very short.

Download the latest file from the birdog site and you should be able to get 101/110 and 119.....then dither for 103/99.(your meter cant detect 99/103).

I've done many slimlines that once I get 119/101 dialed in...I can easily tune in 99/103.

Keep trying and you would get the hang of it....just confirm it will actually get reception in PR.

The wired thing is, that Birdog never gave me FOUND with 101 sat, I know I got 101 because I disconnect the birdog and connected the DTV Sub and there it was, on TP 32 if I am not mistaken, I tried after I saw I got 101 to get 119 or 110 and no luck, but I'll try again with the older LNB, since the new one showed me its defective.
