First game is in the books, Mexico 1 South Africa 1. Although both teams had excellent chances to win this game, the nod has to go to Mexico which was more dominant, especially in the first half.

The game ends in a goaless draw. Not a very good brand of soccer from either team. I'll have to give the nod to France for possession but hardly any real opportunities from either side. Uruguay put up a wall on defence in the end preventing the French from any clear shots.

What was wrong with the officiating ?

Rosetti is one of the best referees in the world.

Did it hit his arm : YES
Was his arms in an upright position: YES

Clear penalty...Nuff said.

The Australians should stop whining about officials and start playing the game right or at least read the rules.

Actually the fact is that the non skilled teams are good enough now to stack the midfield and defence and allow the better teams to come at them. It is very difficult to score like this.......but when these non skilled teams need to open it up (and go for the win) they are exposed and will eventually lose.

If you go through the history of the World Cup Fifa has always had a hand in determining the winners and the reason why that the past winners of the world cup are a small and exclusive group. I agree with you Forza that FIFA will not use video replay as it will not help them in determining their prefered teams to win.

The 2010 World Cup was full of big surprises, with big name teams going out quickly, and smaller teams prevailing.
The refs I feel could have controlled the games better, and with Fifa meeting in Wales soon, hopefully they will bring in replay's. But Only when there is a dispute regarding a goal, otherwise a 90 minute game would go on too long, overall this World Cup was entertaining, I would like to have seen the Final played better, too many cards being handed out, felt like a Blue light special at K Mart giving away free cards.
Congrats to Spain in being the winners, and congrats to the Netherlands for getting to the final....................

On the menu tonight...... Octopus served Scottish Style in a Kilt.......:tehe:
