Sorry for the very basic question, I'm not too sure how this works.

I have a dish with a single lnb, with a cable running from the dish to the living room.

I have a second dish with a single lnd with a cable running from the dish to the living room.

Is it possible to point the two different dishes at two different satellites, then connect the two cables to the same receiver.

For example, to get both 110 and 119, or 110 and 91 (if 91 ever becomes available), using two different dishes instead of one dual or twin lnb dish.

What kind of switch would I need to do this? And can I install the switch in the living room, where the two cables end, just before they go into the receiver? Or does the switch have to be installed at the dish?

Does this question make any sense? Would it be easier just to buy a different dish that has a dual lnb or a twin lnb?

Yes it's possible to use two (or more) dishes on one (or more) receiver.

You would need what is call a 4X4 switch, this allows 2 to 4 LNB inputs to be run to 1 to 4 receivers, you will have to Google for one as there are many types available.

Check this section out for more info on this type of switch.

A Diseqc Switch, SW-21 Switch or 22KHz Switch would do the trick for you, I have attached a pic of each. The Diseqc switch can handle up to 4 LNB's (with 1 output) where as the SW-21 & 22KHz switches can only handle 2 lnbs (with 1 output).

I don't think we can call 2 dishes a farm yet, more like a petting-zoo.......lol.
