New MAC-Book Computer

Hey everyone.
My kid just bought a brand new MAC-book. What are the necessary programs that she should have on it? It has nothing other than the default programs that it comes with. Could you please recommend a few ? Thanks guys!

rally the only thing that you would consider important IMO, Office for the mac and Roxio Taost for disc burning.
