By Christian Ramos: He’s out of the Midwest, has the media at the palm of his hand, and his boxing abilities are almost like criminal exploits. His name is Pretty Boy Floyd. And no, we’re not talking about Charles Arthur “Pretty Boy”, but Pretty Boy, Floyd Mayweather Jr.

Love him or hate him, everybody wants to see him. His fights aren’t just boxing, but more like events. Although anyone can assume whatever he/she wishes, he has the boxing world right where he wants.

At this point, boxing has its own version of the LeBron James “Decision” this week. Everybody wants to know what he wants to do, which way he wants to go. All through boxing websites, TV programming, and articles everywhere, Money Mayweather has been criticized for ducking or being scared of pretty much everybody he has faced. He’ll constantly take long periods of time before making decisions of his next fight. At one point he retired from boxing, and amazingly people believed him knowing he had more to prove. Boxing fans and much of the media fail to understand though, is that Pretty Boy Floyd Mayweather Jr. lives for this. He doesn’t mind being called a coward. He doesn’t care if someone is ranked higher than him, because he knows sooner or later they’ll have to face him. They’ll always face him when, where, and for how much he wants.

No matter what you may think of him, there are a couple things very obvious about Floyd Mayweather Jr. He is as dedicated to the sport as he is arrogant. He is as concerned in being labeled # 1 Pound for Pound as he is in being paid as the #1 cash cow.

Once again, Pretty Boy Floyd has the temporary fate of the sport in complete control. If you don’t agree, feel free to think about for a second. The biggest fight of his career, arguably the biggest fight ever in the history of the sport is at the palm of his hand. There’s a domino effect to this. Whatever his decision affects Bob Arum, Golden Boy, HBO, Manny Pacquiao, Miguel Cotto, Antonio Margarito, Julio Cesar Chavez Jr., and possibly Timothy Bradley, Devon Alexander, Paul Williams, Sergio Martinez, etc. They are boxing’s version of Dwayne Wade, Chris Bosh, Chicago Bulls, Cleveland, Knicks, Nets, and all of the players and personnel involved with those teams.

Avoid the hype. Do not insult your money spending intelligence. After all, you buy his fights. The man is not a millionaire by being stupid. He is not undefeated and arguably P4P #1 by lacking talent and being a coward. He’s a business man with as much boxing talent as we may ever have seen. Hate him or love him, he’s taking your money. You can choose not to watch him, but he controls the sport you love. He’s the classic villain. He’s Pretty Boy Floyd.

Maybe in some peoples world!

He controls no ones fate or the sport of boxing's fate...

He gets none of my money and no glory for his so called intelligence!

If he were truly as smart as some make him out to be, he wouldn't have financial issues with as much money as he has made!

He has proved he can beat old great fighters on their way out but until he quits running and takes the fight he gets no adoration from me!

I am sure that one or two of theses fighters are wishing pbf does not take the fight so they can cash in.I believe its time for a decision on the fight and move on.
