Nonito Donaire won't get his wish to fight on the undercard of a Manny Pacquiao event. There had been talk about Donaire's potential fight with WBO/WBC bantamweight champion Fernando Montiel taking place on the undercard of Pacquiao's next bout, which takes place on November 13.
Top Rank CEO Bob Arum has ruled against it. He plans to send the fight to the champion's backyard of Mexico. Montiel defends his titles this Saturday, also in Mexico, against Rafael Concepcion. If Montiel wins, the fight with Donaire should be good to go for a date in November, says Arum.
“It won’t be in the undercard of a Pacquiao fight,” said Arum to the Manila Bulletin.
