GMC venture 2001

Hello
My dad's having problem with his 2001 venture..the problem is i tried to started it up there is no sound and no click we bought a starter and hooked it up still no sound no click everything else works there is power in the car but it wont start can you please let me know what is the problem with it?

might be a problem with neutral safety switch

Depending on the year, some have a chip in the key and cleaning the outside edges helps. Not sure if 01 has it though

they also have problems with the shifter switch...

wiggle the gear shifter in Park ...or shift to Neutral and wiggle and try...

or it could be a relay ...check the fuse box...

check for loose/corroded battery connection.although you get enough power for accessories and the headlights,you may not be getting enough amps to turn the starter over.i have seen this many times and ones 1st instinct is to replace the starter when in fact a battery clamp has come loose

schematic of starting system in your venture you could jump termials 87 and 30 at the starter relay to see if the starter will crank,
