So i just bought a house and moving in a month, have several fta satellite recievers and dishes, even have a motor, since i want to place a reciever in 2 rec rooms and a bedroom i figure im gonna stop using the motor, put 3 dishes on my roof one for 110/119, one for 129, and one for 82/91.

My quesion is can i just get a regular 5X4 diseqc switch to power the lnb with the recievers, or should i be looking at a powered 5X4 diseqc switch.

Whats the pros and cons to using one or the other?

Any help will be much appreciated, thanks in advance.

You can connect up to 4 lnbs to one receiver using a diseqc switch .

I would reconsider removing the motor tho....

but how can i change channels in all 3 rooms if the motor is locked on one dish though, sets limitations, doesn't a 5X4 have 5 lnb inputs and 4 outputs to recievers

What kind of LNB's are you using on each dish.....(Legacy or Dishpro)....(Singles or Twins) ?

No, you need 2 feeds from each LNB to each side of the switch, so you can only connect 2 LNB's (and a terrestrial antenna) to 4 receivers, and this can only be used with Legacy LNB's.

For 5 Legacy Single Dual LNB's to 3 receivers you will need 2 4x4 and 1 3x4 switches along with 3 diseqc switches to combine the feeds to the receivers.......

you could just buy a 9x4 if you want too

That would only be good for 4 sats, not 5.......
