If the fight with Antonio Margarito is finalized for November 13, trainer Freddie Roach will use Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. as the chief sparring partner for Manny Pacquiao. Roach told the Manila Bulletin that he plans to bring conditioning coach Alex Ariza and a variety of sparring partners to Manila in the second week of September when Pacquiao begins training camp.

Roach recently took the job as head trainer for Chavez Jr., who returns to action on September 11 with junior middleweight Pawel Wolak as the possible opponent. It's going to be interesting to see how the time tables work out. The very tall Chavez Jr. will probably join Pacquiao's camp at the end of September or early October.

If for some reason the rematch with Miguel Cotto is picked for November, the chief sparring partner would become Shawn Porter, a regular in Pacquiao's training camps.

This would be a tune up for Chavez in his way to fight Cotto. Roach is a smart trainer, uses Chaves big body to get Manny set up and Pacmans speed to get Chavez ready for Cotto, if it happens.:okay:

You got it, he made Cotto lose weight to get Paquiao a title in 147 pounds, then made him go up to 154 to get another title. He lost a title against Mosley. Now he's gatting Pac and Margarito to fight for a vacant 154 pound title. Cotto and Chavez for another and walla an unification of both later on.
Mone,money and more money.......................

You guys are extremely perceptive! The have called Arum all kinds of names but hey, Top Rank is one of the most profitable promotions company out there (same with Golden Boy). It is business.

But yes, Boxing is not what it used to be.

It is the same with UFC, MMA, STRIKEFORCE. While Dana White is bashing boxing and predicting its "demise", he fails to see the parallel. Sure, there are no promoters in Mixed Martial Arts (the fighters do not have managers to share their purse with BUT....what do they have? DANA WHITE. He controls who gets in the octagon. He is basically the Super Duper Promoter. So its really funny when he is critical of boxing. Look who is calling the kettle black!

Right now, part of the problem in the "middleweights" is that there are many upcoming great prospects. What do they do to get big money fights? You know the answer - they seek out Top Rank or Golden Boy! So let us not be quick to malign the senior Arum. Remember, there are no masters if there are no slaves; it takes two to tango!
