Tuesday was one of the hottest days of the year so far in Paris. And for many that made the beach a popular place to be.

While most Parisians were enjoying the blast of heat, the rising temperatures seemed to turn dangerous in other parts of Europe.

Since the start of May residents in Ukraine have been desperate to find ways to beat the heat. City fountains and beaches along the country's rivers have become the prime locations to escape the sweltering heat.

Taking a dip in the water seems like a good solution, but Ukraine's Emergency Ministry says that more than 800 people have drowned in the past three months.

Cooling down in local fountains “We have an increased number of emergencies related to drowning. From the beginning of summer we had 30 such calls. These are mainly young and middle aged people. Fifteen were saved,” says one doctor from Kiev's city ambulance station.

Recent studies show that June was the hottest month on record worldwide. Right now it looks like 2010 could be the warmest year ever.
