Mandalay Bay, Las Vegas, Nevada - A crossroads battle saw Jorge Linares (29-1, 18KOs) win a clear ten round unanimous decision over Rocky Juarez (28-7-1, 20KOs) to win the vacant WBA Fedelatin lightweight title. The scores were 99-90, 97-92 and 99-90 for Linares.

Juarez started faster than usual, stalking and putting on the pressure. Linares was sticking and moving. Linares picked up the pace in the second round. He was landing a mixture of jabs, uppercuts and hooks to the body. Juarez did some good work at the end of the fourth when he trapped Linares against the ropes and they went to war. In the fifth round, a Linares uppercut dropped Juarez in the final ten seconds.

By the eight round, the face of Juarez was battered and swelling. Juarez knew he was very behind in the fight and began pressing and landing good shots in the ninth round. Juarez continued to press in the tenth and final round with good shots. Linares just kept moving, staying away and countering when possible.
